24 x 24 inches. Acrylic on stretched canvas.

If there was a theme that characterized the railroad I worked for it had to be “rust”.  Everything, everywhere was rusting from the rails we ran on to the bridges we traversed to the locomotives we ran. And it wasn't just “our” railroad it was everywhere railroad. Enduring memories of maintenance deferred and things abandoned.  Some of those things became iconic landmarks, part of the landscape itself, largely unnoticed unless you had a personal relationship with it.  Water tanks and bridges, rails partially buried in pavement or left to the vagaries of nature on some forgotten branch line into the woods.  Never forget what we have built.
