I am a self-taught artist although on line classes have helped considerably.  I have had a pencil in
my hand since I was a child and have used drawing to express myself since.  I turned to painting
when I retired from 38 years of service as a Locomotive Engineer with the Southern Pacific/Rio
Grande/Union Pacific Railroad.  That event explains my bias toward subject matter and the fact
that time became available to explore the discipline.
I am also a licensed airplane and helicopter pilot and enjoy flying small airplanes immensely,
another favorite painting subject.  And like most artists nature is a constant motivation, wildlife,
landscape and skyscape.
I have also been a model builder my entire life.  One of my nostalgic memories are the incredible
cover art paintings of the early 50’s and 60’s model airplane magazines, something I hope to
revive or at least emulate with a series of paintings on that subject. They are presently being
worked on.
